Bringing Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow
The Picnic Project is a nonprofit organization located in the heart of downtown Sanford, Florida.
COVID UPDATE: We are currently not serving our usual community hot meals. Instead we have pivoted to a socially-distant walk-up grocery distribution twice weekly. We are also partnering with local organizations to do drive-up grocery distributions each month. Additionally, we are giving away masks, sanitizer and waterless soap as supplies permit. Even though we miss sitting down and sharing a table with friends, our resources (funds and space) are able to do more using this model for the foreseeable future.
CURRENT GROCERY DISTRIBUTION TIMES: Fridays 10-12 and Sundays 1-3
We (used to and hopefully will soon) share hundreds of hot, healthy meals to our friends, neighbors and community every week. We also offer clothing, books, personal hygiene items, resource referrals and pastoral care.
We accept donations & weekly meal sponsorship.
We welcome everyone to join us in volunteering or visiting and sharing a meal.

“A dinner invitation is a declaration of love.”
“I know how food can become more than just food. It’s what the body uses for change. Like crackers and grape juice passed around at church, food can become what centers things when everything has gone astray.”
“I hold the theory that the serving of food is the one certain way of pleasing everybody.”
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
